Campsite Wardens
Who are we?
We are Alan and Michelle, a 53 year old couple from Northern Ireland who are travelling full-time in our motorhome around Europe. Our family is grown up and financially independent allowing us the freedom to travel extensively with no set timetable.
We were both employed by large corporations in our early working life but have been self-employed for the last 13 years. We lived on the Costa Del Sol for three years setting up a childrens activity business, contracting with several large hotel chains in Spain.
We enjoy an independent lifestyle and living with less possessions, believing that experiences and travel make for a better life.
Experience
We are currently working as wardens on another campsite in England. Whilst working in conjunction with another warden couple on a shift basis who are the campsite managers, we have also run and maintained the entire campsite on our own for 12 days during their recent holiday.
We are experienced in customer service, maintenance (including the use of ride-on lawnmowers), on-site repairs, cleaning, retail and EPOS systems and both have a detailed knowledge of the Campstead booking system. We greet our guests with a happy and welcoming smile, whilst having the ability to deal with problems in an empathetic and controlled manner.
Here are some of the reviews left for us on Campstead:
“The friendliness of the staff was outstanding, making us feel genuinely welcome”
.
“We spent a week at the site and it was top class. The couple (Alan & Michelle) who look after the site were very helpful.”
The following review was left by part of a group who had been noisy and disruptive giving rise to complaints from several other campers. We had to speak to them twice on one evening and also the next day about the noise levels and their fire pit. Whilst their review about the rules of the campsite was not complimetary, this is how they commented on how we handled the situation.
“The staff upon arrival were really helpful and friendly. The campsite was immaculate, as we’re the facilities……… I will say the Irish couple who staffed the site were absolutely lovely and showed fantastic customer service in what was an awkward situation for them too.”
We would be happy to discuss our reasons for wanting to leave our current position, should you wish to take our application further.
Why do we want to be campsite wardens?
During the winter of 2016/2017, we have travelled through France, Spain and Portugal. We decided two years ago that living full-time in a motorhome was our dream lifestyle.
We are accustomed to living on a campsite as well as wild-camping. We have learned so much about motorhome living and would love to be involved in ensuring that other people have the best camping/motorhoming/caravanning experience possible, even if it is only for their two weeks holiday per year.
Working on a campsite in the UK for 5/6 six months would give us the perfect opportunity to continue living full-time in our motorhome while saving some money towards the next part of our journey in winter 2017 as well as being located in a part of England, allowing us to explore this popular part of the UK on our days off.
What would be bring to the campsite?
As well as having experience of running and maintaining a campsite, we feel the following qualities are also relevant.
Prior to us being self-employed and running our own business, Alan was a financial advisor for 17 years and I was a PA for a director of BT for 16 years. We feel we would bring excellent organisational and communication skills as well as using our travelling and motorhome experience in deaing with guests, ensuring that they receive the best customer service available which in turn translates to great reviews and further business for the campsite.
We are honest and trustworthy and pride ourselves on maintaining a high standard of service at all times. We are happy to work on our own initiative whilst seeking direction when needed.
Alan has a good deal of experience in motorhome maintenance as we renovated our motorhome ourselves over an 18 month period and is familiar with solar panels, 12v electrics and gas installations which could be of use on site.
Michelle has spent much of the last 3 years before our travels volunteering her time for children’s charities.
We enjoy meeting new people and sharing our experiences with them whilst ensuring that their stay is as pleasant as possible.
What we would need from you
Our motorhome is approx 9m (28 feet) long and weighs 7.5 tonnes so we would need a hard-standing pitch with electricity and drainage for the duration of our stay. Also we have a car for quick convenient local transport, so a parking space for the car would be helpful.
Apart from that, we are flexible with regard to our time and would be happy to work as required.
Feel free to have a look around our website to learn more about us.
